National Program to Help Local Families Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity is a four-year, $105-million alliance between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans® and Habitat for Humanity® International designed to help provide a “hand up” to people who lack decent shelter. Thrivent Financial is a faith-based membership organization committed to helping its nearly 3 million members achieve financial security and give back to their congregations and communities. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing. This national program will see local benefits when Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley and the Central Riverside County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans complete a home in partnership with low-income families in the Temecula area. The 312 homes Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are building in 2006 are in addition to the more than 5,000 homes Habitat affiliates build annually in the United States and represent a six percent increase in Habitat home production. Locally, Thrivent volunteer chapters and Habitat affiliates will help with fund-raising and homebuilding. Lutherans and Thrivent Financial members are needed to volunteer on the build site at Temecula, CA.
