This
year’s Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley
Scholarship goes to Courtney Harter. Courtney,
the 2007-2008 President of the Great Oak High School Chapter
was chosen based
on her many contributions to the affiliate and outstanding leadership
efforts. “Courtney is a leader of integrity and it is with
pride that we honor her with this year’s scholarship. We
wish her the best in her educational pursuits and thank her for
her contributions to our organization.” stated Tammy Marine,
Executive Director.
In
addition, we are proud to acknowledge this year’s outstanding
High School Chapter Students:

Valley High School – Kelsey Lawless and Many
Luper
Chaparral High School – Jade Laguer, and Travis Hobbs
Great Oak High School – Christian King, Rachael Pulton,
Kelley Kolb and Kristan Ayers
These senior students were chosen for recognition based upon
their involvement and commitment to Habitat for Humanity.
The
8th Annual Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley Golf Tournament took place on Monday, June 16, 2008 at Temecula
Creek Inn. The event, which was deemed a great success, featured
a number of fun challenges, great prizes and a lot of frolic as
you can see by these photos captured at the event.

Habitat
Way Completed
In Temecula On May 3rd, over 225 people gathered in celebration
of the completion of the five Habitat Way homes located in Old
town Temecula. The House Dedication ceremony featured recognition
for supporters, introduction of homeowners and a special award,
the Brent Eskildsen Humanitarian Award, given to three worthy recipients
who essentially spearheaded the project. The sometimes emotional
ceremony was highlighted by a special thank you given by the homeowners.
After the ceremony, attendees were invited to tour the completed
homes.

Millipore
Corporation Contributes to Build
Executive Director, Tammy Marine accepted a $5,000 check
donated from Mike Smith, representing Millipore Corporation
(see photo). In
addition to the check, over 30 volunteers were on hand to
assist with the painting for the current Habitat Way project
on Pujol and First Street in Old Town Temecula. “Millipore
is a great supporter and we are proud of our affiliation
with them. They truly care about giving back and it
shows today – in more ways than one!” stated
Tammy Marine.

Five
future Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley homeowners
and their families gathered at the Habitat for Humanity
annual
Christmas party on December 16, 2007 at Temecula
United Methodist Church. At the party, the families constructed
a gingerbread house neighborhood to celebrate the commencement
of construction of their soon to be homes. The future homes
are located on Pujol and First Street in Old Town Temecula.
The land development phase of the project is now complete.
Construction is slated to begin the second week of January.
Featured are the Cabulagan, Muro, Castaneda, Alcantar and
Pleasant families all of Temecula. For information on how

The Building Futures Project Program is Underway!
Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley recently
gave a pre-construction safety training with
the young apprentices from Building Futures
program, a program in partnership with Safe
Alternatives for Everyone (S.A.F.E.). Thanks
to the BetterWorld Together Foundation, this
pilot program is now a reality. Program participants
will be helping with the building of five houses
on Habitat Way on Pujol and 1st Streets in
Old Town Temecula later this summer. The program
provides a great opportunity to gain an education
on basic job skills by participating in the
actual hands-on construction of a Habitat home.
They will also develop skills and knowledge
with safety awareness, project management,
green building, recycling and most important:
career exploration. Pictured to the right areare

the meeting was over, the young apprentices
were
given
a bag containing an ID card, a Habitat hat,
work gloves, a screwdriver kit, protection
eyewear, construction pencilm, and a hard hat.
Better
World Together Foundation Awards Grant to Habitat for Humanity,
Inland Valley and SAFE
Habitat for Humanity, Inland Valley, in partnership with Safe Alternatives for
Everyone (S.A.F.E.), will embark upon the Building Futures Program thanks to
a grant from Better World Together Foundation. This apprenticeship-type program
will match at-risk youth with a mentor, provide education on basic job skills
and then give the opportunity to participate in the actual hands-on construction
of a Habitat home. Other integral components of the program will including exposure
and education in safety awareness, project management, green building, recycling,
and, most important: career exploration. Click

Buy Donates Appliances for Habitat Way Homes
Best Buy recently announced the donation of seven washers and dryers to the
Habitat Way Project on Pujol Street in Temecula. “At Best Buy,
we are honored to be partnered up with Habitat for Humanity,” stated
Benny Rincon, Jr., Community Relations Director for Best Buy. “This
great organization allows us to be more involved in the community and it helps

Dixieline
Lumber to Fund Home for Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley Dixieline
Lumber donated $100,000 to fund a fifth home for the Habitat Way
project located on Pujol Street in Temecula. Dixieline Lumber, founded
by the Cowling Family of San Diego in 1913, has a history of active

Habitat would like to thank Milgard Windows in Temecula for their generous
check of $3700.00 which was the proceeds from their Golf Tournament. Milgard
choose Habitat as their charitable organization and we are so grateful for
their continuing support of our programs.

To help our construction efforts @Habitat Way with 5 houses, we’d like
to acknowledge a check for $2500.00 from Temecula Valley Bank. It’s the
support of the community which will allow us to complete these homes and continue
to provide simple decent housing in the area for deserving, hard-working families.

Program to Help Local Families
Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity is a four-year, $105-million alliance
between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans® and Habitat for Humanity® International
designed to help provide a “hand up” to people who lack decent
shelter. Thrivent Financial is a faith-based membership organization committed
to helping its nearly 3 million members achieve financial security and give
